For most of the world, when you mention Seattle, the most iconic and recognized destination that comes to mind is the Seattle Center. Home of the Space Needle, Seattle Center Monorail, Chihuly Garden and Glass, Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), Pacific Science Center, numerous theatrical arts venues and eateries, the Seattle Center is the heartbeat of the Emerald City.
When venturing from Downtown Seattle, a safe way to arrive at the Seattle Center is via the Seattle Center Monorail. A fast, direct, and historic means of travel, your journey will begin at Westlake, streamline you along 5th Avenue, and speed through MoPOP, to your single drop-off destination in the shadow of the Space Needle. The Seattle Center Monorail has established new safety procedures and social distancing implementations for its riders to follow.
This week, Travel Out Seattle was invited to gain exclusive access to experience both Chihuly Garden and Glass & the Space Needle. Please note that our visit was part of a special pre-opening training. Both Chihuly Garden and Glass & the Space Needle are not open to the public as of yet.
“Providing a look at the inspiration and influences that inform the career of artist Dale Chihuly, the Exhibition includes eight Galleries, the centerpiece Glasshouse and a lush Garden.” Chihuly Garden and Glass is spectacular! Besides the beauty and colors surrounding you by gorgeous glass, a favorite part of this experience is the Garden path. A welcome feeling of calm, while you explore a wonderland of spirals and spheres. One takes on the feeling of a shrunken Alice, with a towering toadstool representation of the Space Needle, picturesque above ones head.
The Space Needle’s recent restorations are not just for tourist from abroad to take advantage of. If you are a local, once reopened, Travel Out Seattle highly suggests you take the time to rise up, with your mask up, to the top of the needle. You will ‘experience two entirely new levels of thrills! From an all-glass floor on the lower level to floor-to-ceiling glass on the upper level, Seattle’s “must see” is now a “must do.”
“The safety of our Guests and Team Members is our top priority, which is why we’ve made investments to implement the most effective, science-backed cleaning technologies and protocols available today. We’ve made many changes to incorporate redundant layers of cleaning procedures – some you can see, some are done behind-the-scenes. What hasn’t changed is the immersive and inspiring experience waiting for you at Chihuly Garden and Glass…. and the breathtaking views atop the Space Needle.”
